I LOVE Cake! This naked {un-iced} cake would be the perfect Valentine’s Day Cake to serve up for your sweetheart. The best part about a naked cake is that it doesn’t require much preparation.
Divide vanilla cake batter among two 8 in. pans and bake on the middle rack of the oven until a tester inserted in the center of each cake layer comes out clean.
While cakes are cooling add a little bit of Pink food coloring to Whipped Frosting , and place in a piping bag fitted with a large start tip. Once cakes are cooled, assemble them by trimming any doming with a sharp knife. Place one layer (cut side up) on your cake stand. Frost the top and place your second layer over the first. There are no rules to icing a naked cake. I piped star kisses on the top of mines.
