The Itsy Bitsy Spider Hanging Mobile

This Itsy Bitsy Spider mobile was made using the craft supplies that  Martha Stewart Crafts sent me in celebration of  Michaels Craft Month! They have a new Pinterest board filled with custom videos, how-to strips, and inspiration behind the Martha Stewart Crafts line. I’ve been having so much fun crafting with all of my Halloween goodies that I couldn’t stop at just one! Here’s what you’ll need for the hanging mobile:

  • Martha Stewart Crafts Dimensional Silhouettes Spiders
  • Martha Stewart Crafts Designer Paper Pad
  • Martha Stewart Crafts Portable Paper Trimmer
  • Martha Stewart Crafts Scissors
  • Martha Stewart Crafts Exacto Knife
  • Martha Stewart Crafts Punch All Over Page Classic Circle
  • Martha Stewart Crafts Fine-Tip Glue Pen
  • Hole puncher
  • Stretch Magic elastic (or fishing wire)
  • Ribbon
  • Glue dots
  • Hat box lid

Directions:

  • Measure and cut your craft paper to cover your hat box lid (I love anything that sparkles so I chose the orange and black glittered paper). I used the exacto knife to cut out the circle for the top of the box and the paper trimmer to measure and cut the strips to cover the side. Glue everything in place by using the glue pen.
  • Use your all over page punch to punch orange and black glittered circles.
  • Use a hole puncher to punch a small whole in the middle of each spider.
  • Cut your elastic into 4 pieces (2 for the spiders and 2 for the circles). I made mines long then cut them down after.
  • Slide your string through the spiders one at a time. Make a knot below each spider so they stay in place.
  • Use glue dots to connect your circles together evenly along your string.
  • Punch four evenly spaced holes along the top of the lid.
  • Cut your ribbon into 4 even pieces. Knot the ribbon at the ends and string it through the holes at the top of the lid.
  • Using the glue dots, affix the 4 strings to the inside of the lid (making sure they’re spaced out evenly).
